Here we are in November - doesn't time fly!|
And it's 18th November already, which is my day at IWRY. So, here we are, Four Re-ensoulments and a Funeral.
And so many thanks to Chrislee for hosting this wonderful event every year, and especially during this difficult time for her.
*Smooches* and chocolate to Chrislee.
It's so good to see you again!!!!!
:::clings ever more tightly:::
*clings right back*!!!
I know, I've been AWOL, but I've been doijnhg stuff, honest. You want me to write and tell you what I've been up to?
I would LOVE to hear from you!!! That would make my day!!!!
Okey dokey, petal. Just off to get some tea, and then I shall start an essay to you! :~)))
BTW, I just read "Four Re-Ensoulments" and sent you feedback. What a triumph!
*Thank you* for saying such nice things!
You earned them all. What an astounding story!

As awlways, you find an idea that I wouldn't have thought of in a thousand years and flesh it out beautifully. so sad to think of all these other lives ruined through no fault of their own.
*Thank you*, my dear. I aim to please!
Ouch. This is amazingly beautiful, and painfully raw. All those lives toyed with, because souls are being treated as they should not be. Proper angst, with a great touch of bitterness in the narrator voice too.
*Thank you* so much! I'm really glad you enjoyed it.

Miaow, was that?
Thank you, my dear. Glad it made you miaow...
Oh, excellent! I've always wondered what was going on with Angel's soul when it was not in him...how could it be given to someone else if it was going to be ripped out of them and stuck into Angel and then they would die?! Everyone just assumes that it's just floating there, but I love what you did. I especially liked how Angel's soul was getting stronger and better and farther from Liam as is kept being reborn and as he improved in life. I also liked your period language and feel.
But the real surprise were the Buffy parts, which I also loved.
The whole piece was lovely, though quite sad. Thanks for writing!!
*Thank you*! I'm really glad you liked it. I've often wondered, too, about the souls, and where they went, so it seemed time to tackle one of the ideas...
Ummm...wow. Seriously, how did you come up with all that? Oh, wait, stupid question. It's you, of course! I really enjoyed the idea that their souls would had to have gone somewhere before returning. Thank you for really making me think on this.
Am I getting a reputation for something?? :~))) Brain like a mad dog?
I'm glad you enjoyed it - and thank you!
This fic is absolutely INSANE!!!!! I LOVE IT to teeny, tiny, shiny, heart breaking bits and pieces. The concept is just delicious and the execution is, as stated, heart breaking. Amazing!
I love how Angel, in a way, is always in search of family. Connections to couples and love, but that Buffy always finds her way to a mother. This is just so, so juicy!! Sad and tragic and a great look at the repercussions of magic, something which I love to see and I think got left out at inconvenient times in the Jossverse. I love how everything just ties and resonates, and now I am rambling and will stop ...
Awwww..... *Thank you*!!
Thank you for saying such lovely things - and I'm so glad you enjoyed it!
*points at all the above comments*
All of the above and more. You have come up with a new idea and given us such a story, one that has heartache and joy and misery and wonder. Magic isn’t even black or white. Like all cats in the night, magic is grey. And this monochrome power tears, and rips, and claws the heart out of reality, leaving it bloody and dying. Magic changes what is, turning reality into shadows, and shadows into reality. What we know is replaced by what might have been. Or by what ought never to have come to pass. Magic is selfish, re-forging past, present and future according to the designs of the spell caster alone. Instead of stepping lightly through the world, it crushes wherever it treads, with a weight that reverberates throughout the whole of space and time.
Connor was right to distrust the use of magic.
Saying that, this was magical.
*Thank you*, my dear. And thank you for your never-failing support and encouragement...
That was amazing. I've never seen anyone make characters out of the souls that were ripped out of Buffy and Angel-- and then returned at truly inopportune moments. I guess most of us just never thought about exactly how inopportune it was.
My favorite part was the Buffy-child at the end who loved angels and willow trees and the breaking dawn. It's so powerful to see what Buffy would be like as a young, non-Slayer girl.
The warning about magic is very, very apt. This is one of the most creative ideas for a fic that I've seen in a long long time.
Oh, you are clever, Jo. The one that really got me was the mother and Coral...especially the first time when she was supposed be dead and then wasn't for a minute and then was and as a mother...my heart just clenched!
You are a born story teller and this fic is filled with all those terrific details which breathe life into characters in just a few simple lines like: He sees the mutton-chop whiskers move as the doctor clenches his jaw.
and She’s the first daughter of that arrow-straight family tree, and they’ve decided to name their son for Claire’s family, so the name won’t be lost.
Really well done...

This was really beautiful. Painful, tearing at my heart, but really, really beautiful.

What a spin on things. Wonderfully heartbreaking. I can't help but think of Spike when he says that there are always consequences with magic.
